The bath
was new and the commission was to age it. After priming with a shellac it was coated with a two part craquelure effect, which creates fine hai
r like cracks in the top coat. The entire surface is then rubbed with a mixture of scumble and an acrylic paint, in this case burnt umber. This highlights the cracks and gives the appearance of age. The ball and claw feet were finished with a gold enamel.
