Colourwash. The specification was a mustard yellow, and as a pure yellow ochre was too bright, a buff colourwash was applied initially.The norm would be to allow the buff to cure and then varnish before the ochre was applied, but the idea was to mix the two washes in situ on the wall.The end result was very pleasing.
